Our story
Family-made. Veteran-owned. Pennsylvania proud.
Starr Hill Vineyard & Winery has been crafting wine in the hills of Clearfield County since 2005 — built from the ground up by one family, one bottle at a time.
How it started
Ken Starr founded Starr Hill Vineyard & Winery in 2005 on 861 Bailey Road in Curwensville, Pennsylvania. What began as a passion project rooted in a love of the land and a belief that Pennsylvania could produce world-class wine has grown into one of Central Pennsylvania's most recognized wineries — with over 50 wines, four tasting room locations, and a loyal following that stretches across the state and beyond.
Ken is a veteran, and that service shapes everything about how Starr Hill operates: with discipline, with pride, and with a deep commitment to the community. The veteran-owned identity is not a marketing label — it is the foundation the winery was built on.
The family behind the wine
Starr Hill Vineyard & Winery is a true family business. Three generations of the Starr family work together to run every aspect of the winery — from the vineyard to the tasting room to the bottle in your hand.

What makes our wine different
Starr Hill Vineyard & Winery produces over 50 wines across eight categories — dry reds and whites, sweet and semi-sweet blends, fruit wines, sparkling, and specialty styles. The range is intentionally broad, because we believe there is a Starr Hill wine for every palate.
Our fruit wines are made from fruits sourced out of Erie, PA — producing flavors you simply will not find in a typical grape wine. Our dry wines are crafted from Pennsylvania-grown grapes that reflect the honest character of this state. And our award-winning lineup proves that Pennsylvania wine belongs in the same conversation as any other wine region in the country.
Every bottle is made with the same care and attention that Ken Starr brought to the first vintage in 2005. That has not changed.
