About Us

Our History
Ken Starr's journey into the world of winemaking began in 1952, as he learned the craft from his father. His passion for wine was further fueled during his time in the USAF in the early 1960s when he visited numerous wineries in Europe, particularly admiring the German style of winemaking.

Excellent line and environment. They have a live music stage with a few campsites available through Harvest Hosts.. There's also electricity available if you do not want to Boondock while camping.

Five star winery! We stayed the weekend thru the Harvest Host program and had a wonderful experience! The grounds are meticulously kept and the host was there to greet us upon arrival. The host was extremely friendly and a wealth of knowledge! The winery was delightful and tasty as they offer a range of dry and sweet wines! Something for everyone! A must place to visit! This is on my list as a must re-visit sometime soon! Absolutely wonderful place! We took a hike at the lake and again, had a wonderful experience!

We had a really enjoyable afternoon visit to Starr Hill Winery and certainly got a sense of just how extensive their wine selection is! Once we settled in at the counter, we ended up sharing the space with another couple who was working their way through quite a few of the wines, and Ellie was wonderful through all of it. I honestly think at one point she had pulled just about every bottle out of the wine cooler for everyone to sample! She was patient, personable, knowledgeable, and made it easy to explore the selection without ever making anyone feel rushed. And there is A LOT to explore here. Starr Hill has an incredibly extensive wine list, with plenty of choices particularly for those who enjoy wines that lean toward the sweeter side. Even if you aren't quite sure what you're looking for when you walk in, there are certainly enough options to have some fun figuring it out. One of my favorite parts of our visit actually came after the tasting. The grounds are beautiful. There is something wonderfully peaceful about grabbing a glass and heading outside, whether you choose the gazebo, one of the Adirondack chairs, or simply a spot where you can look out across all that emerald green grass and the rolling Pennsylvania hills. That's exactly where I ended up with my glass, and it was a pretty great way to spend part of an afternoon. A special shout out to Ellie for taking such good care of everyone at the counter and seemingly keeping an endless parade of bottles coming! If you enjoy discovering different wines and having plenty of choices, Starr Hill is definitely worth adding to your travels through this part of Pennsylvania.

My wife and daughter loved this winery. While waiting my grandson and I played foosball. Apparently from all they purchased their product must be quite good. Kudos to the hostess. She went above and beyond normal customer service.
